Using voipGATE

1 Introduction

1.1 Getting Started

This White Paper is intended as a guide for the configuration of the tiptel IP 280 listed below to connect to the voipGATE service.
The intended audience of this document is End-Users of the tiptel IP 280.Please contact your Siemens supplier for additional assistance if/when required.
Unless otherwise stated please use the default settings.

1.2 Version Compatibility

The build versions utilised in this series of testing are;
voipGATE version utilised: 1.4.r.75450
Phone tested: tiptel IP 280, firmware: 9.43.13.6
NOTE: Please note that differing results of compatibility may be experienced on other releases/versions of the same product line.

2 voipGATE Settings

2.1 Settings / Dial Options

Configure the “Dial Options” tab with the option Classic Dialing. Set the “International prefix” to “00” and the “Country Code” to your country (ex: Luxembourg -> 352)




3 tiptel IP 280 Settings

3.1 tiptel IP 280 prerequisites

The tiptel IP 280 is connected to your LAN / HOME network and IP address is assigned to the device. For further instructions on the Network configuration please refer to the user guide of the device.

3.2 Configuring voipGATE with the tiptel IP 280

Connect with your browser to the device’s IP Address to view the login screen of the tiptel IP 280 and log in by typing the password. The default login name and password are admin/admin.


On the next screen select Account Tab.


On the Account Tab fill out following informations:


On the right side fill out following informations:

Account Active: Checkbox (on)

Lable: voipGATEtest

Display Name: voipGATEtest

Register Name: voipGATE User Name

Password: voipGATE Password

SIP Server: register.voipgate.com

SIP Server Port: 5060

NAT Traversal: STUN

STUN server: stun.voipgate.com

STUN port: 3478

On the Account Tab click on Codecs and configure the settings as described below:


PCMU:1 place

PCMA:2 place

G7626-24:3 place

G729:4 place

Save your configuration by clicking the Confirm Button.



4 Using voipGATE

4.1 Making Test Calls

After successfully configuring your voipGATE Service you should validate your settings by performing the following series of calls:a) Local to Fixed Local call

a) Local to Fixed Local call
b) Local to Mobile call
c) Local to other Fixed National number (same country different area code)
d) Local to Fixed International call
e) Local to Mobile International call
f) Test inboundcall by calling your voipGATE Phone Number, if subscribed to this service.
